How to choose merchant services provider? I am planning on starting my own business and operating a kiosk at a mall setting. This is my first time starting a business and would like to know how to choose a merchant services provider so that i can accept credit/debit cards at my business. Any help is appreciated.

Can someone recommend a good merchant services company for a small business? We are a small business merchant currently using Usight for processing credit card orders that come into our website. We have been quite satisfied with their services until the last few months, when it has become increasingly difficult to process orders or credits on evenings and weekends - and there is no customer service available at those times. When I call during the week, I'm told this is a "known issue" but it has just continued. We're frustrated enough by this to consider switching companies. Can someone recommend a better one?

Is Total Merchant Services a legitimate business? Apparently they sell terminals to businesses so that they can accept credit cards as payment. I answered an ad on Craigslist about the position and it's apparently an at-home position where I would be calling 3 different states trying to set appointments and the guy I would be working for, would then do the selling. Apparently whatever he sells, I would get half of. I apparently also have to obtain a business license and in doing so, I would then be able to hire my own employees. Is this legitimate? What do you think of these sign up and monthly fees? $100 sign up $10 per month $2.5ish% $25 monthly minimum. I just discovered what the hell that means, and they (CC services) wants you to think it's only $25 you have to process. I was sort of lied to by the people who signed me up.
