Is there a more crap service provider than Virgin Media? I have not had a bill since April. My £30 package costs me £60, but still no bill. They phone me up towards the end of the month saying they will cut my TV and phone off unless I pay them. They charge me £5 for paying by cash. And impose a £10 late-payment fee, although they have not sent me a bill. I tried to terminate the contract; I have been with them, and their predecessor for over ten years, but am told I cannot get out of the contract until October. So I have to pay up. The Supervisor will call me back - their computer is down - but they never do. Is there a more crap service on the planet?
I have one product to sell need a service provider to handle ccards and payments? I have a booklet I am selling and need to setup a website to promote it, I already have the domain. I am sure there is a service out there that all I need to do is put my images and info on their webpage and they will handle my transactions for a fee of course. Who would be good at this?

Accounting entry when paying bills for my customers? I'm managing a wireless store and offers bill payment to our customers by using a third party online bill payment provider. A customer walks in my store, and wants to pay his/her bill. So I receive their billed amount + service fee and send the bill amount for this customer using the third party bill payment service provider. Here's my question. Should I enter the billed amount + service fee my store revenue? I guess the billed amount would be my cost of sales then, right? Or should I just put the service fee as a commission. Or any other ways? Thank you very much in advance! My question is:
Where can I get a water heater and installation with payment plans? We need a new water heater very soon as ours has started to leak. Locally they cost around $300, then there's the installation fees as well. Does anyone know of a place were we can purchase one and have it installed, and they take monthly payments, like a 12-month payment plan, etc? Obviously Home Depot and similar stores would probably offer that, but I'm talking about a contractor or other service provider that say, does repairs but also installs, etc. We live in Northeast Ohio.
Can my bank charge me for placing a stop payment on a check that online bill pay sent that is lost? I pay my bills every month through ez-bill payment service that is provided by my credit union First Financial Federal Credit Union. The service is provided by an outside provider ez-bill payment service. In this case I paid my car payment. Bank of America (the loan holder) never recieved the check. They apparently sent a check via mail to bank of america. The check has not gotten their and it has been almost 12 days. I have never had this problem. The bank informed me that to place a stop payment on the check I would have to pay a fee. I realize when a check I mail is lost that I must pay this fee but can they really pass this fee on to me in this case? They say they are just passing the fee on that the bill pay service passed on to them. But if the Bill pay service lost it in the first place do I have any recourse here? Or should I just pay the fee. If it was my error I would gladly pay it but banks always screw the customer even when they aren't wrong. I am sick of it.
Which quarter should I file Form 26Q? Hi All, This is pertaining to TDS form 26Q. I availed some professional services from one service provider. His fees were more than Rs. 25000/- I made payment to him (after withholding TDS amount) on 21st June 2008. I also paid the TDS amount to Govt. of India on 4th July 2008. My question is 1) Which date decides the quarter in which I need to file the for 26Q? Is it the date on which I made payment to the service provider or the date on which I paid money in Income Tax account. (using ITNS 281) 2) Am I supposed to file form 26Q for Quarter 1 of 2008 or Quarter 2 of 2008? I appreciate your help in this regards. Thanks & regards, Raghu
How do I cancel my Verizon Wireless phones and avoid early termination fee? I have two cell phones with Verizon wireless. One has its contract end in December of this year and the other in September of next year. Verizon shut off my service twice in the last two month even though I have never been late on a payment before. I am looking to get another wireless provider but I don't want to pay the early termination fee. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Daycare Provider took money and provided no service.? I have kids who need daycare 2 days a week for three hours from 5AM-8-8:30AM. I met a woman who appeared to be very nice mother of three, with a contract defining expectations from both parties. When we initially sought her service we explained we have no family or friends in the area, and we need atleasta two week notice of resignation. Short she did not open the door, my husband missed work, she claimed her schedule was wrong. Husband wanted to pay for two weeks discontinue service, told her I would try to convince him to get over miscommunication. Would call and have definite answer. That evening she called and left a voice mail stating she would no longer be able to provide services. However she cashed my checks for services.I had only a one day notice to find other arrangements. Also many places require two weeks up front and a registration fee.We have the money, but it is principle. She cashed the checks stopping payment not option.I am writting a letter to her any other options?
can iprimus give my phone number to someone else? We just recently forgot to pay our home phone bill and our service was suspended. We paid it the following day a Saturday via credit card.so that the payment would be received straight away. Our services returned to normal the following Monday and we had both Internet and Home phone access. We knew we would most likely be charged a late payment fee but thought that other than that everything was fine. On the Tuesday after noon 4 days after we paid our bill and our account was up to date our telephone line was disconnected. Not realising this till after 8am at night, (as we thought our phone line inside was just playing up) we tried to ring our service provider but they were not open. First thing on Wednesday morning as soon as the offices were open at 8am we rang them to find out what had happened as we had paid our bill. We were told that our services had been disconnected due to failure to pay our bill and that we would need to reconnect our phone. After a lengthy argument we had no choice but to reconnect our phone and pay a reconnection fee. We were told at the time that we would still have our same telephone number and that our phone would be working again in a few days. The next day Thursday we received a text message letting us know our phone was working again. To try it out I rang my mobile....the phone number was not our home number but rather a new telephone number all together. I rang up straight away to find out what was going on and they tried to tell me that I couldn't possibly have a new telephone number. On hold for about 20 mins they come back and tell me that yes our telephone number has changed and that we can not have our old number as it has already been given to someone else. Now can they do this?? Can they take our number without telling us? And how can it be given to someone else when we were using it Tuesday and rang first thing on Wednesday to sort out what had happened? What are my rights here as iprimus are making me out to be a fool....
I was charged a termination fee of over $500! Was this a mistake? My service provider is telus, and the other day i got my bill it was almost $800 including taxes. My amount due from before was only about $100, and i wasn't that late on my payments. I never asked them to cancel my plan, so does this mean that its a mistake, or am i stuck with having to pay the $800??
IMMM SO CONFUSED!! tech people help/apple? ok so im sending my touch in for repair, i want to get a new battery and get my screen fixed cause there is some scratches. i have warenty, i was reading the terms and conditions and got really confused. Service Exclusions and Diagnostic Fee. Apple may charge you a diagnostic fee including shipping charges, of no more than one hundred ($100) dollars US, (“Diagnostic Fee”), plus applicable tax, if Apple inspects your product and determines based on the inspection that the product does not require service. If Apple determines, while inspecting your product, that service is needed due to the failure of parts that are neither supplied by Apple nor Apple-branded, Apple may return the product to you without servicing it, and may charge you the Diagnostic Fee plus applicable sales tax. If service requires additional labor or parts that were not specified in the estimated charges, Apple will ask for your approval of a revised estimate. If you do not agree that Apple may revise the estimated charges, Apple will return your product and may charge you the Diagnostic Fee plus applicable sales tax. Apple reserves the right to refuse service on products that have serial numbers altered, defaced or removed or that are damaged due to accident, abuse, neglect, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider), unauthorized modification, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), extreme physical or electrical stress or interference, fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, acts of God or other external causes. In such event, Apple may return the product to you without servicing it, and may charge you the Diagnostic Fee, plus applicable tax. then it says this Payment. Unless your service is covered by Apple’s warranty or extended service contract without charge to you, you will pay the estimated charges stated when you authorized service. Your payment is due when the product is returned or a replacement product is provided to you. The estimated charges include all parts, labor, and shipping required for service, plus applicable tax. so my questions are #1. am i going to get charged it they dont feel nothings wrong with my touch #2. does warntey cover those charges and should i even send it in?
Pay the provider? Your preference as a patient.? Providers of health care services can be paid: 1- A fee for each service they provide (fees for service) 2- A fee per month, per each patient, that names him/her as his/her doctor. (Capitation) 3- A salary (monthly) for taking care of a regular load of patients. (Employee, as in the University of Miami hospital) Which one of these payment methods do you prefer and why? In the USA, this is a HealthCare industry, as well as a Political, as well as an Economics question. Other than war and peace, in the USA, there is no political issue of more importance than health care, this question is close to the heart of that issue. Doctors are divided in this question.
Comparison of ACH Payment Providers? Would like more info on firms selling ACH services for merchants and other sellers. I see each has a monthly fee of USD 50 per month down to as low as USD 10 per month, with fees of 20 to 50 cents per transaction and some with a setup fee. Any recommendations? Would pay more for the best service since not so expense, but want to have good service and software.
Could someone read through this and tell me what it means? I know its long (sorry!) but I need to check if it mean what I think it does. So thanks SO much if you can, its very much appreciated. Please suggest an online Payment solution? I am planning a web portal where service buyers meet service providers. The buyer comes to my portal and posts his project requirements (e.g. I want a five page website with Logo to be designed). Then Service providers start bidding on this project. Buyer will choose one of them basing on providers profile, previous projects and feedbacks etc. I am not charging any fee from the buyer to post his project; after all he is getting me the business. But at the time of registration buyer pay a small deposit of £5 pounds to activate his account. And it will be refunded in 10 days - no strings attached. It helps my website a safe place to do business and it shows the buyer is serious about engaging with my providers and also it confirms they are 18 years and over. At this point I am not getting any money. But I might have to pay transaction charges for this process of charging and refunding it. What is the best way to offer this through online payment options withhout a big dent to my pocket. I know paypal but I loose almost 40p to verify the buyer. Do you think is it worth? Yes, there are many sites in US but not in U.K which is offering this kind of service. You may wonder, Where is the money coming in to my business. I am getting some small fee from Service providers. But it is secondary and I wanted to minimise my expenses as my company is starter company and I wanted to be in the business for a while. If I spend money on Buyer verification and if I don't get proper business then I will be robbed. Please suggest alternative or cheaper or no fee for transactions like this. Thanks alot all of you.
Do you know what is in Obama/Pelosi care reforms proposals? How do you like this? Be careful what you wish for and I encourage you to resist-and-purge!! Will you join me in resist-and-purge? What the government will require you to do: • Sec. 202 (p. 91-92) of the bill requires you to enroll in a "qualified plan." If you get your insurance at work, your employer will have a "grace period" to switch you to a "qualified plan," meaning a plan designed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. If you buy your own insurance, there's no grace period. You'll have to enroll in a qualified plan as soon as any term in your contract changes, such as the co-pay, deductible or benefit. • Sec. 224 (p. 118) provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a "qualified plan" covers and how much you'll be legally required to pay for it. That's like a banker telling you to sign the loan agreement now, then filling in the interest rate and repayment terms 18 months later. View Full Image McCaughey2 Associated Press Protestors wave signs in front of the Capitol on Thursday. McCaughey2 McCaughey2 On Nov. 2, the Congressional Budget Office estimated what the plans will likely cost. An individual earning $44,000 before taxes who purchases his own insurance will have to pay a $5,300 premium and an estimated $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, for a total of $7,300 a year, which is 17% of his pre-tax income. A family earning $102,100 a year before taxes will have to pay a $15,000 premium plus an estimated $5,300 out-of-pocket, for a $20,300 total, or 20% of its pre-tax income. Individuals and families earning less than these amounts will be eligible for subsidies paid directly to their insurer. • Sec. 303 (pp. 167-168) makes it clear that, although the "qualified plan" is not yet designed, it will be of the "one size fits all" variety. The bill claims to offer choice—basic, enhanced and premium levels—but the benefits are the same. Only the co-pays and deductibles differ. You will have to enroll in the same plan, whether the government is paying for it or you and your employer are footing the bill. • Sec. 59b (pp. 297-299) says that when you file your taxes, you must include proof that you are in a qualified plan. If not, you will be fined thousands of dollars. Illegal immigrants are exempt from this requirement. • Sec. 412 (p. 272) says that employers must provide a "qualified plan" for their employees and pay 72.5% of the cost, and a smaller share of family coverage, or incur an 8% payroll tax. Small businesses, with payrolls from $500,000 to $750,000, are fined less. Eviscerating Medicare: In addition to reducing future Medicare funding by an estimated $500 billion, the bill fundamentally changes how Medicare pays doctors and hospitals, permitting the government to dictate treatment decisions. • Sec. 1302 (pp. 672-692) moves Medicare from a fee-for-service payment system, in which patients choose which doctors to see and doctors are paid for each service they provide, toward what's called a "medical home." The medical home is this decade's version of HMO-restrictions on care. A primary-care provider manages access to costly specialists and diagnostic tests for a flat monthly fee. The bill specifies that patients may have to settle for a nurse practitioner rather than a physician as the primary-care provider. Medical homes begin with demonstration projects, but the HHS secretary is authorized to "disseminate this approach rapidly on a national basis." A December 2008 Congressional Budget Office report noted that "medical homes" were likely to resemble the unpopular gatekeepers of 20 years ago if cost control was a priority. • Sec. 1114 (pp. 391-393) replaces physicians with physician assistants in overseeing care for hospice patients. • Secs. 1158-1160 (pp. 499-520) initiates programs to reduce payments for patient care to what it costs in the lowest cost regions of the country. This will reduce payments for care (and by implication the standard of care) for hospital patients in higher cost areas such as New York and Florida. • Sec. 1161 (pp. 520-545) cuts payments to Medicare Advantage plans (used by 20% of seniors). Advantage plans have warned this will result in reductions in optional benefits such as vision and dental care. • Sec. 1402 (p. 756) says that the results of comparative effectiveness research conducted by the government will be delivered to doctors electronically to guide their use of "medical items and services." Questionable Priorities: While the bill will slash Medicare funding, it will also direct billions of dollars to numerous inner-city social work and diversity programs with vague standards of accountability. • Sec. 399V (p. 1422) provides for grants to community "entities" with no required qualifications except having "documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers" to "educate, guide, and provi
Where does the law stand on Ebay post and packaging charges? As some of you will know, Ebay have now started to enforce a policy of "free" postage and packaging on some catagories. As there is no such thing as "free postage and package" (ask at your local Post Office for full details) I have now started to offer my goods as Collection From Seller and giving the buyer the OPTION of paying to have the item delivered if they so which. Ebay have told me that this is against their rules but, from my rather basic knowledge of consumer law, I believe them to be on very shaky ground here. The reasons I believe so are these: First of all, Ebay DO allow "Collection Only" listings upon which a buyer can choose to bid or not. These are quite legitimate. Once a person chooses to bid on my item(s) they then become MY buyer, not Ebay's, as Ebay do not act as a trader i.e buy the goods from seller and sell them on to a third party. Secondly, once that person becomes my consumer (buyer) I am well within my rights to offer that person services (in this case postage) and they have the right to either accept my offer of service or refuse it. This is assuming that I didn't originally state that I would post the item(s) for free, which I didn't. The same law applies to trading across the board from my understanding. If for example, I went to a shop (or even car boot sale) and saw a fridge and paid for it, the fridge would then be mine, but that wouldn't give me the right to insist that it was delivered for free unless the trader selling it advertised it (or led me to believe) that they would do so prior to sale. Thirdly, again my understanding is that as they take direct fees from me for services provided, I then become THEIR consumer, giving me the legal right of access to continued services unless I break policy guidelines. I believe, as I explained earlier, that I am breaking none of their guidelines as prior to sale, I am offering my goods for collection upon payment with a post-sale option of paying for a service not offered prior to sale. Unless I'm mistaken, if the letter of the law is followed, Ebay would therefore be forced to withdraw ALL "Collection" items as this is the only way they could legitimately stop someone from offering an item as "collection" and then, through discussion with their buyer, offer a them a paid for service for delivery if they so wish? If anyone has experience or expertise in the matter I'd be glad to hear their comments, also people thoughts in general. Ebay are bad enough with making up the rules as they go along but, as a service-provider that charges payment for such, I feel that this time they may have sailed too close to the wind from a legal point of view. Ebay rules vs consumer law,... Consumer law wins by default,...... Regardless of what Ebay would like to think or have us believe.
Does anyone have any expert knowledge on small business to consumer contracts? Early last year I booked someone to provide a sevice for a wedding this month, soon after the booking the wedding date moved. In all the service provider received 10 months notice of the change, during that period the service provider stated that he could not fill the date we cancelled and also couldn't make himself available for the new date. The service provider is now wanting 100% of his fee for a service he will never provide, although his contract states that you have to pay 100% fee on cancellation inside 12 months, it's fairly obvious that he made no effort to fill the new date or make himself available. Although we saw his terms he initially pressured us into signing them and his actions hence seem to contravene an act from 1999, preventing businesses binding consumers into contracts deemed "unfair". The service provider had our deposit but I am reticent to pay the 100% charge does anyone know where I would stand legally if I challenged the contract or payment??
Problem with CBeebies channels from Sky digi box? We were subscribed to Sky package last year and due to late payment of renewal fee for this year/ due to some other reason we stopped receiving the Subscription channels through it. As well we stopped getting other free channels like CBeebies channel. The service provider said that we should be able to receive them even without the Sky viewing card just like other channels like Tiny Pop, Pop etc.. But still we do not receive these channels. When I try to view these channels I get the message "Satellite signal not being received". But I get the information bar that shows which programme is being played currently on this channel.Has anyone got the idea what could be wrong and how can I solve it? Dear friend Stephen Thank you for your answer. We have made the signal test and the bars are the maximum possible we can get. The top bar is almost 3/4 full and the bottom one i.e signal quality is half way. I wonder why do v receive other channels if there is prob with cable. We were subscribed to channels like 783 and 784. After cancelling the card, we were still able to see it in the listing but with the message, "please insert viewing card". Surprisingly we do not see them in the listing also since about a month. Any idea?
collection agency problem, what can I do? I was working with my Cell provider, to get my service re-connected, we both agreed on a payment time and amount, then the next day after I sent my payment VIA web payment, I get a call from a collection agency, demanding the full amount, I also recived a letter from them a few days later, My cell provider give my a credit on my early termantion fee and have restored my service. I have told the collection agency about this, and they still say that I owe them their fee, that its not their problem, I was very upset with them and, commented that they need to pull their head out a certin body cavaty( not in those words). Why can they do? I told them that they can go after the cell provider for any fees. and hung up the phone.
Am i liable to pay the debt recovery even though i have settled my balance from my provider? My broadband contract will finish on Sept 2007, if i'll cancel i need to pay the balance so i decided just to leave it as it is until Sept. Meaning i'm still paying until now, I don't have late payment, i always pay 3 months advance because that is the agreement i entered. I change address(other country) and still paying up to date. i ask the tenant to forward my letters to my present address which they did. the first letter i ignore because they are charging the full amount, i dont have arears until i got a letter again saying they will forward my balance to debt recovery so i settled the amount(late) and they didn't say anything they just receive the payment. Because i always receive all letters very late, i found out the debt recovery is charging me their services and they will forward to their solicitor if payment not made on the date mention but the date has lapse. Whats your advice aside from paying because i believe i am not liable to this fee as my payment is up to date. I've got Proof of payment. The debt recovery agency are aware that i have settled my balance direct from my provider and now they are threatening to file charges if the fees not paid. Can a debt recovery agency file charges against me just because i didn't pay their fees?

Why is the U.S. the only industrialized country in the world to not provide Universal Healthcare? Why does the U.S. spend 40% more per capita on health care than any other industrialized country with Universal Healthcare? For those who believe Universal Healthcare is socialism, should we completely cut ties with the U.K. and Japan because they are a bunch of crazy socialists? Should we also revoke statehood for Massachusetts and Vermont because they have passed legislation providing healthcare for at least 95% of their citizens? (There are 8 other states considering Universal health care, should we oust them soon?) Single payer universal health care is not socialized medicine. It is health care payment system, not a health care delivery system. Health care providers would be in fee for service practice, and would not be employees of the government, which would be socialized medicine. Single payer health care is not socialized medicine, any more than the public funding of education is socialized education, or the public funding of the defense industry is socialized defense. yup: I've been called a dirty socialist that should leave America and have nothing to do with it. So perhaps you may not have called me a "commie" but, many of your counterparts have. If they suggest American citizens be ousted from the country, shouldn't they also suggest America cut ties with countries that practice what the ignorant consider "socialism"? Hate to break it to you, but It's not that far a step for the Conservative crazies on here. If I had the time or really cared, I'd pull up all those questions and answers from Conservatives that have suggested just that (breaking ties with "Socialist" countries) Some even wanted us to oust Mass. b/c they let gays marry. All you'd have to do is dig a little and you'll find the answers/questions. Being rational doesn't exactly fly with these people.

Is insurance the answer to our health care crisis? I have heard that Obama's administration has been talking about requiring all Americans to carry health insurance. Is this really going to help average citizens obtain affordable quality health care? I work in a Community Health Clinic that receives special funding from the federal and state governments. Our mission is to provide health care to those who wouldn't otherwise have access to it. We are contracted with both Medicare (federal insurance) and Medi-cal (CA State insurance), so we receive generous payments for our services. Medical providers who do not fall under this classification have been seeing their payment rates cut while ours increase annually. We also receive federal, state, and privately-funded grants that allow us to offer a sliding fee scale to patients with or without insurance. Patients who qualify pay $-25-35 per visit, comparable to most private insurance copays. Blood work is an additional $5, and we are contracted with a local radiology center who also offers a sliding fee scale for their services. Community Health Clinics benefit everyone: the providers are paid well, the patients receive affordable quality care, and the government is spending their money efficiently. Why waste time and money with insurance companies? Why not implement more community clinics?
does RESPA allow a CLO to reward a broker and an agent for helping? I am starting a new business. It is a website for mortgage originators and real estate agents to use to escort their borrowers through the origination process. It is a real learning process that accomplishes the RESPA requirement of covering the 14 items (shown below) needed to originate a loan. BrokerVine is a Computerized Loan Origination system. Therefore, It is a settlement service provider because we provide services related to the origination of mortgages. Our fee will be paid by the borrower on closing. We provide leads to real estate agents to replace the people they voluntarily introduce to the mortgage originators. The originator and/or the agent will escort the customer through our website discussing their home value and available products and pricing and several other things. The plan is to pay the mortgage originator a commission for the work he will do for the CLO. There is no payment for referral of leads to real estate agents and no kickbacks for work not done. They are not paid from the closing transaction. The mortgage originator’s fee is paid directly to his Mortgage Company, and then divided according to their pay agreement. That way it is clear that the mortgage originator is an employee of the Mortgage Company. My question is: since the mortgage originator and the real estate agent (who gets new leads) are doing constructive work for the CLO, is it ok, according to RESPA, to pay a bonus to each party for using our product and doing the work required? The real estate agent will be linked to more than one mortgage originator so that it is not an exclusive arrangement. This is an idea that I want to structure properly, I’m flexible and anxious to get something going soon. Research: Section 8(b) prohibits the giving or acceptance of "any portion, split or percentage of any charge made or received for the rendering of a real estate settlement service ...other than for services actually performed." By regulation, HUD has established that the prohibitions include a charge for which "no or nominal services are performed." 24 C.F.R. § 3500.14(c). The 14 tasks: 1.Take information from the borrower and fill out the application. 2.Analyze income and debt to determine the maximum mortgage the borrower can afford. 3.Educate the borrower about the home buying process, advise them about different types of loan products available and demonstrate how closing costs and monthly payments would vary under each product. 4.Collect financial information and other related documents that are part of the application process (tax returns, bank statements, etc.). 5.Initiate and order verification of employment and deposits. 6 Initiate and order requests for mortgage and other loan verifications. 7.Initiate and order appraisals. 8.Initiate and order inspections or engineering reports. 9.Provide disclosures to the borrower (truth-in-lending, good faith estimate, etc.). 10.Assist the borrower in understanding and clearing credit problems. 11.Maintain regular contact with the borrower, realtors, and lender between application and closing to apprise them of the status of the application and to gather any additional information as needed. 12.Order legal documents. 13.Determine if the property is in a flood zone. 14.Participate in the loan closing. Just in case, here is an outline explaining The Lead Partners by BrokerVine: 1.The RE agent works with a prospect on at least half of the 14 tasks mentioned in RESPA, and shown above. 2.RE agent introduces the lead to one of several mortgage originators that are participating. The RE Agent gets 2 new leads from BrokerVine to work on. No cost is involved. 3 The mortgage originator pays BrokerVine for the prospect. 4 The 14 tasks in RESPA are covered by the mortgage originator with the help of the BrokerVine website 5. BrokerVine charges a Computerized Loan Origination fee on closing and pays most of it to the mortgage originator to reimburse them for the work done on the loan on behalf of the CLO. This is structured this way to comply with RESPA and build a business that really helps to get loans done efficiently – The real estate agent is helping the mortgage originator. The mortgage originator is helping the real estate agent. The CLO is helping the agent and the originator show the prospect which mortgage solution is best. It is a good partnership. contractual law, how does it work and when is a contract a contract Having recently entered into a verbal contract with a major producer, as in they came to my door, enticing me with a good offer on services, knowing that i had been a previous customer and gone over to another provider, i entered into an agreement for two free items with the agreement of paying a nominal fee for installment. At that time, the persons who sold the service to me rang their office to confirm the installment date and confirming the payment of the nominal fee which was duly taken from my account the next day. Since then, no one turned up to install said equipment and have received varied excuses mostly of that the paperwork from the foot soldiers takes a bit of time to get to the office and be up loaded. That was a few weeks ago. Now they cannot trace the money which apparently we have recently found out is in the holding account but also because we were customers prior the offer does not apply to us and we have to pay an extra 75.00. Our issue is that we took the offer ( subsequently getting rid our supplier at the time in the belief we would have their service0) in good faith they are saying that there was not a contract as there is only a contract with their company when we put the card into the machine to activate it. Is that right?
Do I have to pay penalty after nursery failed to provide adequate service? Hi guys and girls! My Son has until Friday been attending a private nursery. This nursery provides a drop and collection service for children who also attend the local authority nursery. Last week my Son should have been at the authority nursery and I was made aware through a friend that the school had closed due to bad weather. As the private nursery were due to collect my Son that afternoon I rang them to ask the situation and was advised that he had been dropped at the school and they were also closing and would not be sending staff to collect the children they had left at the school and then advised me to arrange collection from the school. I rang the school and was informed my son was not there as all the school children both nursery and primary had left the building. After 30Min's of an engaged tone I finally got back in touch with the private nursery and was told that my Son was definitely not there. It was not until I told them I had been in contact with the school that the manager went out f her way to investigate and found my Son to be at their nursery all along. I am very grateful my Son was never in danger however I am very annoyed at the fact they were unaware to his location. I have since complained in writing and received both written and verbal apology with news of new policy's that have been put in place. This apology also was for taking my Son out in a vehicle without my permission and also losing his belongings on several occasions. I am however still very disappointed with the service and do not want my Son to return to their care. Yesterday I rang the nursery and explained that he would not be returning and that I would pay the fees due from the beginning of the month up until that day. I was then told that due to the contract I had signed when my Son started attending stating I would give 1 months notice I was going to have to pay what was due plus one months fees. I am not disputing that I signed this however they have admitted being in the wrong and under the circumstances I feel I should not have to pay the forfeit. Does anyone know where I stand on the matter? I am now going to have to find a new childcare provider who will also require payment and do not think it is fair that I should now be stuck with 2 lots of fees to pay for this month. Thanks in advance! Lorraine Guys thank you so much for your advice so far! The information I was given was in fact from the nurseries owner. Thanks guys, you've been fantastic x
how do i stop a fraud/scam funeral company? possibly be defrauding the public and legitimate funeral homes. I did a search for funeral service providers offering low cost cremation. One of the resulting links from the search took me to the web site for Cremation Options, LLC. I called the number and I spoke with a person who introduced herself as Roe (no last name provided even when I ask her to provide it). Roe presented herself as very helpful, courteous and professional. Roe stated the price they had quoted was indeed accurate however there might be a few extra but minor fees added by the local funeral home. I then had Roe proceed with making the arraignments with a local cremation provider in Wisconsin. True to her word the additional fees for a ME, filing fee and for the death certificates Roe quoted back to me did not seem excessive and were in line with what I had been quoted by local providers. However when I was told that under no circumstances should we contact the local funeral home directly, I became somewhat concerned. However I set aside my concerns and proceeded to setup the arrangements with Roe. Roe went on to state I could call them at any time 24/7 and that everything would be taken care off. The local funeral home that Cremation Options, LLC had contracted with responded very quickly and professionally. At this point I felt a little more confident that maybe my earlier concerns were unfounded. However I became very concerned when I was contacted by Roe and was asked to overnight immediately a check for the entire amount agreed to, to Cremation Options LLC 5834 Sterling Rd. Hollywood Fl. 33021. An Internet search using Cremation Options LLC main phone number (877) 989-9090 pulled up a link to ripoffreport.com. At first I was not terribly concerned because the name of the company being reported was AAA Alpha And Omega Cremation Center. However when I read through each of the complaints, one of them specifically mentioned the names Joe, Roe and AJ as the people they had dealt with. Needless to say this caused me tremendous concern. I then contacted Roe about my concerns and once again she demonstrated a very professional and courteous manner. These people are taking unfair advantage of families who are in distress with the loss of a loved one. The funeral home in Wisconsin has yet to receive payment and I am just getting the run around on the phone with this 'company'. Who do I call to get these people to literally 'pay' for their actions??!! For similar stories go to ripoffreport.com AAA Alpha Omega
Anyone being harassed by RPM Collections? Receivables Performance Management (RPM), a collections agency, does fraudulent business. If you receive a bill from them, you'd probably be wise not to pay it. About a year ago, I dropped my mobile phone service provider because when I moved to a new home by the water, I could not receive network coverage. This service provider graciously allowed me to terminate my contract early with no fee. However, I still owed a prorated amount that somehow slipped through the cracks on my end, and they could not get a hold of me for payment, as they did not know my new address or number. Eventually they gave it to collections: to this Receivables Performance Management company, aka RPM. (There is another collections agency called RPM, but they are actually legit.) When I received a bill from this Receivables Performance Management, I ignored it, and instead paid my owed amount straight to T-mobile. Thank God I did, because after some investigation, and after about 3 harassing phone calls from Receivables Performance Management, all occurring AFTER T-mobile had already cashed my check, I realized they were a fraud, and had I mailed the check to them, I probably would be regretting it big time right now. So take note, Receivables Performance Management, aka RPM, (named after a legitimate collections agency), should be "black-listed". Actually, I informed RPM that I paid the bill, and they told me they would verify with the company, and if I didn't hear back from them within 48 hours, all was fine. Well after about 2 weeks, the harassing phone calls began again. And this time, they claimed I was lying about paying the bill, even though I verified with the company myself, and have the bank statement to prove it. RPM never contacted the phone company!
Does giving Pell Grants mean we have socialized universities? So why does a universal health care plan mean we have socialized medicine? Just to make sure we are on the same page: It is health care payment system, not a health care delivery system. Health care providers would be in fee for service practice, and would not be employees of the government, which would be socialized medicine. There would be free choice of health care providers under a single payer universal health care system, and it would not even be mandatory Suthrnlyts, not a good christian I take it...all about me me me. If you don't qualify for fedreal financial aid, I take it you don't have many worries with healthcare either. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/
Can anyone tell me where to go if I just want reliable internet service, no hidden fees, and decent speed? I keep looking up all these horror stories about people having ridiculously slow internet, trying to cancel, and being billed by the internet companies anyway, who then threaten to sue for "non-payment," as well as plenty about horrible customer service when a problem does happen to arise, and random increases in price without notice that make little to no sense at all. I'm a tad bit freaked out by all this, and don't want to end up bound to an internet company that would take that much advantage of it's consumers. Can anyone help me narrow it down to some honest and reliable internet providers? I just want a decent connection and picture.. :-/ ~Ash♥
Adoption fees for Haiti can be up to $12000. How much of that money goes to the government of Haiti? International adoption fees for Haiti are reported to vary between $9000 and $12000. How much of that money goes to the government of Haiti? Haiti’s courts charge for judicial services, but their fees are not fixed. Prospective adoptive parents should expect to pay varying court fees and expenses. It is not possible to determine the approximate total cost to adopt a child in Haiti because there are no set adoption fees. Some adoptive parents have reported paying $3,000 USD, excluding airfare; while others reported paying much larger sums. The Adoptions Unit recommends that prospective adoptive parents contact their local agents or adoption service providers to inquire about current fees as they are subject to change. Haitian and U.S. law prohibit any payments to the child’s birth parent(s) or guardian(s) by the prospective adoptive parent(s) or their agents." (http://adoption.state.gov/country/haiti.html)

Inefficient Billing Process? If you have a service provider that is consistently slack and irresponsible in collecting their payment due them every month, especially when it's automatically billed/withdrawn from your bank account thus they only have themselves to blame for not doing it in due time, is there any penalty that the customer can claim or enforce against the goods or service provider? If I am to blame for paying my bills late I am penalized by late fees and even having that late payment possibly placed on my credit record and these measures supposedly protect the goods and service providers but what recourse do I have when I have to call them once a month after the fact and demand that they take payment for the previous month? They don't charge me late fees or report me for paying late but still, what legal means do I have (excluding expensive lawyers) against them to make them clean up their act? I know, change providers since this is messing up my budget and makes me perpetually one month behind?
Made a payment arrangement, but t-mobile suspended my account anyway? I was a little behind on my t-mobile bill due to the holidays and yesterday, I made a arrangement to pay it next week. Today I noticed that my account was suspended. This is the second time that this has happened in a few months. Frankly I am sick of t-mobile anyway and want to switch providers. Is this grounds for ending my contract without paying an early termination fee? I know they did me a favor by agreeing to a payment arrangement, but they keep screwing up. I have been with them for 5 years now and have noticed that their customer service has deteriorated significantly.
Age of Consent in Japan and getting solicited through email!? I am an female service provider who caters to men and women. Last night I got a telephone call from a boy who wanted me to go to Japan for an overnight visit with him. He sounded young so I asked him his age and he told me he was 14. I told him I didn't see kids his age and he told me in Japan that the age of consent is 13 which I found hard to believe. He assured me it was true. I then told him that he couldn't afford it anyway. I told him that my fees and travel expenses would be way too much for his little piggy bank. After he hung up I went to bed. This morning I checked my email and Paypal and I had a $1000 deposit and he said he could Paypal more in a few days. I haven't accepted the payment but this has aroused my curiousity more than anything. If he is 14yo, why would he solicit someone to fly around the world when I am sure there are providers in Tokyo who would do it for less? Knowing the Age Of Consent in Japan is 13, could I get into trouble even if I were to consider it? I haven't accepted his paypal or anything and cannot say it isn't tempting. He spoke perfect English and emailed a picture of his face. He is as young as he says he is. I feel funny about the whole incident but I just cannot bring myself to accept his money. Even though I do meet strangers sometimes I cannot bring myself to meet a boy who is young enough to be my own son.

If you are military retired or headed that way, do you know about this? Is this what you were promised? CITIZEN JOURNALISM Tricare Benefits - Medical Care Sought for Retired Military By Brenda Hurley SPECIAL TO THE WASHINGTON TIMES | Thursday, August 27, 2009 ASSOCIATED PRESS Heather Fazio (left) and Cathy Renfroe (second from left) hear a different point of view from Irene Glass as they demonstrate against President Obama's health care plan outside a Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in Austin, Texas. Ms. Glass and Austin Adams both support the plan. President Obama and his party have endorsed legislation that would drastically cut the Tricare for Life benefits of retired and veteran service members. If it is approved by Congress in a vote next month, retired and veteran service members will be obliged to pay high deductibles and co-pays. Military treatment facilities currently do not charge eligible persons co-pays for medical services or pharmaceuticals. The concept of providing medical care for families of active-duty members of the uniformed services dates back to the late 1700s. In 1884, Congress declared that "medical officers of the Army and contract surgeons shall whenever possible attend the families of the officers and soldiers free of charge." There was very little change until World War II, when family members could not be treated. Most draftees in that war were young men who had wives of childbearing age; the extremely large number of babies being born caused a burden on the system. The Korean War again strained the capabilities of the military health care system, and it was not possible to provide free medical care for military families. On Jan. 1, 1967, Congress passed legislation giving military retirees, their family members and qualified surviving family members of deceased military members free medical care. That promise was broken in the 1980s, when Congress revoked the legislation in order to cut the budget. Tricare for Life was instituted by Congress in 2002 to reinstate the broken promise that military retirees would receive free health care coverage for life. It was introduced as a supplement to Medicare for military retirees and their family members who are eligible for Medicare. The program pays nearly all medical costs not covered by Medicare. Now, however, the benefits of retired service members and veterans are in danger again. Tricare comprises three options: one similar to a health maintenance organization, called Tricare Prime; an option with a preferred-provider network, called Tricare Extra; and a traditional fee-for-service plan, called Tricare Standard. Military retirees who are not yet eligible for Medicare may enroll in Tricare Prime by paying an annual enrollment fee of $230 for individual coverage or $460 for family coverage. In addition, those enrollees in Tricare Prime make a $12 co-payment for each outpatient visit to a civilian physician or other civilian health care provider; visits to military providers are free. Those who do not enroll in Tricare Prime may receive benefits under Tricare Extra or Standard. Beneficiaries who use either of those two plans must pay an annual deductible of $150 for individual coverage or $300 for family coverage. The Tricare enrollment fees, co-pays and deductibles have remained unchanged since 1995. A Congressional Budge Office study states that "... if the savings that would accrue from reduced spending for Medicare were included, the introduction of cost sharing under this option would reduce the federal spending devoted to Tricare for Life beneficiaries by about $14 billion through 2014 and by about $40 billion through 2019. Approximately 22 percent of those savings would come from a reduced demand for medical services rather than from a transfer of spending from the government to military retirees and their families. "An advantage of this option is that greater cost sharing would increase Tricare for Life beneficiaries' awareness of the cost of health care and promote a corresponding restraint in their use of medical services. Research has generally shown that introducing modest cost sharing can substantially reduce medical expenditures without causing measurable increases in adverse health outcomes. Among its disadvantages, this option could discourage some patients, particularly low-income patients, from seeking preventive medical care or from managing their chronic conditions under close medical supervision, which might negatively affect their health." If this change is approved by Congress in September, the first curtailment of benefits would occur in 2011. Cost sharing would require retirees to pay the first $525 of medical costs and 50 percent of the next $4,725 for a first-year cost of at least $2,888 per person. The new charges would be indexed to increase with inflation. The CBO report (which can be found at ht

TAX HELP!! 10 points!!!? I am in college and recieved a "tuition statement" in the mail. It has a box with an "OMB No." and it says "form 1098-T" for "2007". Then there is a "filer's identification number", "student's social security number," and "service provider/account no" (in separate boxes). Then there are boxes numbered 1-8. The only boxes that contain information are box 2, which has the "amount billed for qualified tuition and related expenses," box 5 which lists the amount of my "scholarships and grants," and box 8 which says "check here if at least half time student," and it is checked. On the back of the paper it says "you, or the person who may claim you as a dependent, may be able to take either the tuition and fees deduction or claim an education credit on form 1040 or 1040A for the qualified tuition and expenses that were actually paid in 2007." And it says my college can list "payments recieved" in box 1, but box 1 is empty. The paper was mailed to my grandma's house where my father is staying (I am on campus right now), and my father was going to take the paper with him when he went to have his taxes done, but he could not find it at the time. I think my father can claim me as a dependent since I am in college, but I am not sure. And he has already taken his taxes to be done. So I just want to know if me or my father can, or are we required to file/claim anything based on this tuition statement I recieved. Could we recieve more money based on it? Or would we owe money? Or is it just a statement that I do not need to worry about? And what are we supposed to do about the statement now, since my father has already done his taxes?
Direct TV cancellation? I just ordered Direct TV and not what it seemed, and we just had it installed yesterday 6/17. I was reading up to see if they had a trial period, I'm not at home right now, I don't have my contract with me to read it, but I was reading forums to see if they even have one and doesn't seem they do. So I was reading up on the Illinois state laws and it states: Contract Terms, Bills, Payments, and Termination Cable and Video television providers must: • Limit contracts for cable and video service to no more than one year. • Allow customers 60 days from the date service is started to cancel service without penalty.**************************************************************************************** • Provide bills that are clear, accurate, and understandable. • Give customers at least 28 days from the date of a bill to pay the charges. Payment is considered to be made on the date the customer mails the check. • Give 21 days notice before terminating any service following failure to receive payment within the 28-day grace period. • Stop charging a customer for service within one business day after the customer requests to immediately shut off service. • Limit early termination fees to the amount the customer saved under the special rate, one-year contract (as compared to the regular rate for service in the absence of the one-year contract). • Restore at no charge any television service that was terminated without good cause. Says they give customers 60 to pretty much try it out without penalty if they wanted to cancel. So then why does Direct TV give those people a hard time to cancel? Do they even qualify in the law? It says Cable and Video Television providers, are they exempt from it? Thanks for any help! BTW, here's that website... http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/rights/Understanding_Your_Rights_tv.pdf That doesn't answer my question. I was not home while the service was being installed therefore I couldn't have an opinon before the guy left, my dad was there for me and he signed the contract. It's all in my name. Just want to know if Satallite service is included under the illinois law where you have 60 to cancel without penalty. I don't need to explain my whole situation.
If you are from Ohio, do you support the following proposed constitutional amendment, why or why not? Amendment Title: "To preserve the freedom of Ohioans to choose their health care and health care coverage. Full Text of Amendment: Be it resolved by the people of the State of Ohio that Article I, Section 21 of the Ohio Constitution be adopted and read as follows: ARTICLE I Preservation of the freedom to choose health care and health care coverage Section 21 (A) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system. Section 21 (B) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall prohibit the purchase or sale of health care or health insurance. Section 21 (C) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall impose a penalty or fine for the sale or purchase of health care or health insurance. Section 21 (D) This section does not affect laws or rules in effect as of March 19, 2010; affect which services a health care provider or hospital is required to perform or provide; affect terms and conditions of government employment; or affect any laws calculated to deter fraud or punish wrongdoing in the health care industry. Section 21 (E) As used in this Section, (1) “Compel” includes the levying of penalties or fines. (2) “Health care system” means any public or private entity or program whose function or purpose includes the management of, processing of, enrollment of individuals for, or payment for, in full or in part, health care services, health care data, or health care information for its participants. (3) “Penalty or fine” means any civil or criminal penalty or fine, tax, salary or wage withholding or surcharge or any named fee established by law or rule by a government established, created, or controlled agency that is used to punish or discourage the exercise of rights protected under this section. Lordpercywooster - First of all this is not legislation, it is a Constitutional Amendment. There is a difference. Second, you're correct there is no current law to fine anyone yet, this amendment would be to prevent it in the future. Third, Federal Law does not necessarily trump State Law, the States are only bound by the U.S. Constitution in which there is no provision that requires their adherence to the U.S. Code. Fourth, I did not know that Fox was reporting on this. You need facts, not ignorant assumptions.
What of ALL of these items actually brings the cost of health care or insurance down? WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF ENACTMENT *Insurance companies will be barred from dropping people from coverage when they get sick. Lifetime coverage limits will be eliminated and annual limits are to be restricted. *Insurers will be barred from excluding children for coverage because of pre-existing conditions. *Young adults will be able to stay on their parents' health plans until the age of 26. Many health plans currently drop dependents from coverage when they turn 19 or finish college. *Uninsured adults with a pre-existing conditions will be able to obtain health coverage through a new program that will expire once new insurance exchanges begin operating in 2014. *A temporary reinsurance program is created to help companies maintain health coverage for early retirees between the ages of 55 and 64. This also expires in 2014. *Medicare drug beneficiaries who fall into the "doughnut hole" coverage gap will get a $250 rebate. The bill eventually closes that gap which currently begins after $2,700 is spent on drugs. Coverage starts again after $6,154 is spent. *A tax credit becomes available for some small businesses to help provide coverage for workers. *A 10 percent tax on indoor tanning services that use ultraviolet lamps goes into effect on July 1. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2011 *Medicare provides 10 percent bonus payments to primary care physicians and general surgeons. *Medicare beneficiaries will be able to get a free annual wellness visit and personalized prevention plan service. New health plans will be required to cover preventive services with little or no cost to patients. *A new program under the Medicaid plan for the poor goes into effect in October that allows states to offer home and community based care for the disabled that might otherwise require institutional care. *Payments to insurers offering Medicare Advantage services are frozen at 2010 levels. These payments are to be gradually reduced to bring them more in line with traditional Medicare. *Employers are required to disclose the value of health benefits on employees' W-2 tax forms. *An annual fee is imposed on pharmaceutical companies according to market share. The fee does not apply to companies with sales of $5 million or less. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2012 *Physician payment reforms are implemented in Medicare to enhance primary care services and encourage doctors to form "accountable care organizations" to improve quality and efficiency of care. *An incentive program is established in Medicare for acute care hospitals to improve quality outcomes. *The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversees the government programs, begin tracking hospital readmission rates and puts in place financial incentives to reduce preventable readmissions. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2013 *A national pilot program is established for Medicare on payment bundling to encourage doctors, hospitals and other care providers to better coordinate patient care. *The threshold for claiming medical expenses on itemized tax returns is raised to 10 percent from 7.5 percent of income. The threshold remains at 7.5 percent for the elderly through 2016. *The Medicare payroll tax is raised to 2.35 percent from 1.45 percent for individuals earning more than $200,000 and married couples with incomes over $250,000. The tax is imposed on some investment income for that income group. *A 2.9 percent excise tax in imposed on the sale of medical devices. Anything generally purchased at the retail level by the public is excluded from the tax. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2014 *State health insurance exchanges for small businesses and individuals open. *Most people will be required to obtain health insurance coverage or pay a fine if they don't. Healthcare tax credits become available to help people with incomes up to 400 percent of poverty purchase coverage on the exchange. *Health plans no longer can exclude people from coverage due to pre-existing conditions. *Employers with 50 or more workers who do not offer coverage face a fine of $2,000 for each employee if any worker receives subsidized insurance on the exchange. The first 30 employees aren't counted for the fine. *Health insurance companies begin paying a fee based on their market share. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2015 *Medicare creates a physician payment program aimed at rewarding quality of care rather than volume of services. WHAT HAPPENS IN 2018 *An excise tax on high cost employer-provided plans is imposed. The first $27,500 of a family plan and $10,200 for individual coverage is exempt from the tax. Higher levels are set for plans covering retirees and people in high risk professions. http://www.xe.com/news/2010/03/22/1026877.htm?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=TL&utm_content=NOGEO&utm_campaign=News_RSS_Art6 From what I can tell, democrats are putting all their cards on if everybody purchases insurance, the premiums will go down. I treat others good and patiently wait, but this attorney don't deserve this now? You were aware that yesterday at 10:23 AM (your time) I have faxed you a copy of termination letter. I stated clearly in the letter that your services are no longer needed in my case as of June 21, 2007. Yet, you failed to follow my request. Five hours later, you faxed me a copy of checks (total of three checks, all dated on June 21, 2007) that are going to providers (known and unknowns bills without statements provided for each balance) As you know, you did not have my permission to write checks to providers after your termination. Please be advice that you are reliable for this loss (total of $2,051) if providers accepted payments since you were terminated prior to attempt paying the providers. If you refuse to recover the loss: one, I will again promptly report you to State Bar Association; second, if I need to obtain for an attorney regarding recovering this loss; third, if I have to report you to local medias. For two and three, if the matter goes that far, you will be reliable to pay for all the fees and cost. Once again, please kindly without doubts, send me my complete file accurately (includes: statements from providers of unpaid bills) and remaining amount in my client’s trust fund (so I can take care of the unpaid bills immediately) with ledgers and receipt leaving zero as the balance in the client’s trust account by July 29, 2007. Once again, please take this matter seriously and understand that your services are no longer needed in my case as of yesterday June 21, 2007. If you further attempt to pay bills to known or known providers, again, you will also be reliable for future losses or damages. >>>What should I put and not put on this letter? Can you please make correction? Thanks After my car accident case was settled and close with money, my attorney has not even pay the providers of my outstanding balance for and still need to pay me 4 months now since case settled. I patiently waited for 2 months and then decided to contact him. He was always either in trials or conference with cleints and his receptionist always making nonsense excuses. He never call me once during this 4 months and update me on the progress which I found out that no progress has been made. The money is there sitting in the trust account (or who knows) Not knowing upfront the total bills and then later found out that the bills were not even paid yet. I recently paid for one of my creditor and demand him for the rest of the amount in trust account due to his delays and no progress and no definate answer. They should have already know the answers and paid the bills within a timely fashion yet failed. Anyhow, I am tired of this so I fired him and that was what he did paid the providers...
Economics Question: Supply and Demand? Relative to a system in which insurance covers all costs, a system of patient co-payments for medical services, under which the patient pays a significant portion of any medical fee while the insurance policy pays the remainder, will A) raise medical care costs by encouraging providers to increase their fees. B) hold down medical care costs by holding down insurance rates. C) hold down medical care costs by constraining the desire to purchase medical services. D) have no significant effect on medical care costs because these costs are determined by the cost of supplying medical services. E) raise real medical care costs by lowering the quality of medical care received.
Should we be worried about forthcoming health care? Please read this: By Dick Morris And Eileen McGann 06.6.2009 The photo op was too good to be true. Health care providers trooped out of the White House and trumpeted their goal of saving $1.7 trillion of costs over the next decade in health spending. Now these drug companies, hospitals, insurance companies, medical device manufacturers, labor unions and doctors have laid out their plans in more detail. And right there, in plain print, is the beginning of medical care rationing. Now that the cameras have been put away and the media is no longer watching, their secret emerges: They are going to cut medical costs by cutting medical care. Right now, they cite four targets. They plan to: 1. Cut diagnostic imaging tests like MRIs and CAT scans. 2. Reduce the use of antibiotics. 3. Perform fewer Caesarean sections. 4. Cut care for management of chronic back pain These decisions will not be medical but financial. They will not be based on a doctor’s opinion of what his or her patient needs, but a bureaucrat’s and an accountant s opinion of what the new health care system can afford. And you will not be able to bypass their rulings and pay for this care yourself. The rules laid down must be followed and private payments will not be permitted to override them. What we now call a private fee for service will metastasize into a bribe. But this is just the very beginning of rationing. The total of health care spending now runs about $2.3 trillion a year in the United States. Over ten years, that’s likely to reach $30 trillion. So a cut of $1.7 trillion is a mere drop in the bucket. More rationing is coming, and coming soon. In our new book (coming out on June 23rd) Catastrophe, we explain exactly what rationing will mean and what it has done to patient care in Canada. It’s not a pretty picture and Obama will bring it here soon unless we stop him. Forewarned is forearmed! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What do YOU think we are heading for ??
