Accept Payment Online

What is the cheapest way of taking payment online for products i offer via the internet?

I sell a product/service (nothing dodgy) but i wish to accept card payments online without the payee obtaining my private name and address details - is this possible? Also what happens if the buyer disputes the card payment with their bank (eg says they didnt make the purchase) after i have sent the goods to get out of paying? ie. as they have purchased online i have no signature as proof of purchase so what protection do i have? Hi, I have thought of paypal but doesnt that let the buyer know your name and address details??? I dont want to divulge that and giving a false one is out of the question as then it would not match my bank account and paypal would not allow that.

2. Paypal is the best and safest method,both for you and for the buyer too. If I were stuck between 2 sellers I would choose the one who took paypal as payment before someone who only took credit card payment. *edit* paypal do not give your name and address out,ever,you dont need a signature for an online purchase as the security number on the back is given,this is better than a signature.
3. Yes Paypal is one of the best - however it would cost you money a small percentage every transaction you received. Also they get to see your address, and vice versa. 4. Paypal is good as most answers gave; however most people are aware that it is easy to create and may not have that much confidence in it. You may want to try Google shopping cart. It is similar to paypal but I find that you have more control over how to integrate it into your website. Since, google is so large and getting better and better; I would imagine that more people will trust it. Another advantage of using google is that if you decide to advertise in their adword section, your site will be highlighted as one that uses a google cart.
